Anjunabeats (the London-based electronic dance music label owned and A&R’d by Above & Beyond; Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki) is in the midst of their biggest North American Tour EVER. The tour, aptly called “Our Biggest Ever North American Tour,” features tent-pole names from the label’s ever-growing family of global talent. We never miss an opportunity to experience anything Above & Beyond touches, so there was no way our calendar would allow for anything other than Anjunabeats’ SOLD OUT night at Exchange LA.
For us the night was about ilan Bluestone, but we would be remiss not to give Grum, Andrew Bayer, and Jason Ross the credit they each deserve. In total the four men held together a steady lineup, delivering powerful sets that complimented each other perfectly. Each of them contributed to the energy and the progression of the evening, ultimately crafting one unified experience, tipping their respective hats to Above & Beyond along the way.
Let’s rewind. From the moment the doors opened, Exchange LA was packed with a swaying, dancing sea of happy humans basking in the progressive trance sounds of all things Anjunabeats. This was no ordinary club night. We arrived inside in time to catch Grum’s “Under Your Skin” and from there the night was off to a stellar start. Grum’s set bled so flawlessly into Andrew Bayer’s that we hardly noticed the handing over of the decks. Bayer, who had us feeling “Super Human” (sorry, couldn’t resist), flawlessly carried the night, and all of us experiencing it, closer to the apex. Enter ilan Bluestone. If DJ sets could be measured in chemical elements, ilan Bluestone’s was pure gold. We can’t mask our bias. ilan Bluestone capitalized on the crowd’s palpable energy and delivered us into the very capable hands of the newest addition to the Anjunabeats family, Jason Ross.
We were close enough to the stage to witness Bluestone’s contagious dance moves, we spotted Arty watching from the wings just before he hopped on for a “Lionhearted” cameo, and we even had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Bluestone later in the evening! We were not alone in the magic, ilan Bluestone spent a great deal of time after his set taking pictures with fans and signing autographs. Ilan Bluestone is a regular at the Dreamers & Doers office (as in…his music can be heard pouring from our speakers more often than not) and serves as a solid source of creative inspiration while we brainstorm, edit, and write.
As a producer, London-based Bluestone is inspired by his deep, deep love for 80s music as well as the inevitably addictive sounds of Above & Beyond. This killer combination is totally apparent in his music, and it’s also earned him support from legendary DJs like Armin van Buuren and Tiesto. After delighting fans and a packed house at the Circuit Grounds Stage at EDC Las Vegas last year and gaining a steady stream of loyal fans globally, it is abundantly clear that he has an incredibly promising future in store. We will be right there to witness his journey every step of the way!
As far as Anjunabeats, we can not recommend this label enough. If you are looking for new music, look no further than their roster (http://www.anjunabeats.com/artists) and get to listening!
